Development of an Improved Elevated Temperature Aluminium Alloy Alcan GBX158

Abstract

ALTHOUGH of many years standing the development of Alcan GBX 158 has not yet reached commercial availability. The object of this project is to produce an improved elevated temperature alloy for air‐frame, aero‐engine and missile applications. The intention of this published summary of the more recent work, carried out by Alcan Booth Sheet Limited on production material in plate form, is to interest and encourage aircraft manufacturers to help with directing further work and detailed testing.
