Abstract
The importance of heat‐resistant coatings has grown during the last decade due to the new developments in the field of aircraft and space vehicles. These finishes are frequently exposed to intensive due to air pressure at high speeds. At a velocity of 5,000 miles/hr the metal surface may well reach a temperature of 1100°C. Differential expansion between coating and substrate over a wide temperature range presents a second serious problem. In these circumstances the thermal conductivity and overall heat transfer of the coating may well become the key formulation factor.
