Phillips 66 Composite Replaces Metals in Aircraft Fasteners

Abstract

KAYNAR‐Microdot, a 45‐year‐old manufacturer of metal fasteners, has found an engineered plastic composite that allows replacement of steel and titanium in its Mu 2000™ line of aircraft fasteners at a 50 percent savings in weight.
