Some Facts and Figures on the Hong Kong Printed Circuit Industry
Abstract
Of all the enquiries received by Circuit World, perhaps the most commonly encountered requests concern information pertaining to Business Statistics. Do we know how many pcb's are imported into the UK from the Far East? Do we know what the market potential in France is for UK pcb manufacturers? Do we know the total financial turnover of the UK pcb non‐captive industry? These are but three typical examples of the questions posed by readers. Perhaps it is therefore not so surprising that in the past year five market surveys of the pcb industry have been reported in previous issues of this Journal, with no less than two of them sponsored by reputable Associations such as the Institute of Printed Circuits and the European Institute of Printed Circuits. Obviously a considerable demand for statistical data exists. As such, Circuit World would like to provide this type of information for its readers by publishing articles of a statistical nature, but can only do so with the co‐operation of readers who can supply all of the necessary details. If any individual/Association/Organisation therefore wishes the journal to prepare and publish such an article concerning their specific geographical location, they should contact the Editor. In the last issue of the Journal we examined the Swedish Printed Circuit Market. In this issue of the Journal we take a look at the situation in Hong Kong. We hereby acknowledge the assistance and co‐operation of Mr. Charles Chapman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Hong Kong, in enabling us to produce this report.
