The CD‐word: Reflections on user behaviours and user service
Abstract
When our library purchased its first CDROM index, I fell in love. User‐friendly cumulated indexing, in a sexy package — a librarian's dream come true! The bloom isn't entirely off the rose — I remain enamoured of new access technologies — but I have had a few further thoughts. This article will review some of the ramifications of the implementation of new technologies in libraries, the sea change in user behaviour and, briefly, implications for library instruction and other public services.
