Abstract

“Home Preservation of Fruit and Vegetables”, Bulletin No. 21 of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, published by HMSO, is undoubtedly the most widely known of the Section's publications. It made its first appearance in 1929 — 72 pages in quarter bound hard covers for 1/6d (7½p) and the 13th edition has recently appeared (65p). The subject of home food freezing made its debut in the 8th edition (1954) and for over twenty years much of the Section's work has been directed to the improvement of home food freezing techniques.
