Abstract

I love food — both to cook creatively, and to enjoy eating. This, in itself makes all the knowledge I have of nutrition an occupational hazard! In recent years with the media encouraging healthy living and eating, one is consumed, immediately, with massive guilt complexes when planning or arranging meals for other people. Will they eat meat? Do they like numerous salads? Shall we have wholemeal bread? Do they like fish? One could continue endlessly with peoples' fads and fancies. But each one is in itself very important to the person concerned, be it because of medical recommendation or, by what shocks me considerably, the massive concentration by the media to influence the public's diets by their strong commercially biased advertising techniques, often in direct opposition to each other.
