Abstract

Dr Garrow began by saying that the title of his lecture was not of his choice because it implied both that we are fat and that it matters that we are fat. He then said that about one third of the adult population of the UK carry more than the optimum amount of fat, so that they have an energy store which could be lost without any impairment to health, indeed, their health would probably improve.
