Sustainable water management and climate change: the North Sea Skills Integration and New Technologies (SKINT) project

Article Type: Feature From: International Journal of Climate Change Strategies and Management, Volume 1, Issue 4

The North Sea Skills Integration and New Technologies (SKINT) project is an Interreg IVB project (North Sea) which focuses on the integrating and creation of knowledge on different methods to empower water in interdisciplinary urban development and planning processes. The project has significant relevance for national and EU policy evaluation and the project supports the implementation of the Floods Directive and the Waterframework Directive.

The project will develop a SKINT Water portal, which provides the end-users from national and regional level an active source of information for online training course, including an effective web-communication tool. In the context of the project, a set of training and information initiatives on matters related to sustainable water management and climate change will be undertaken. SKINT and its results will be fed into the International Climate Change Information Programme launched by the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences in early 2009.
