We are very happy to present the first issue of International Journal of Energy Sector Management of 2011. With this issue, the journal enters into its fifth year of existence and the interest in the journal is growing as the submission rate and the diversity of the papers would suggest. We thank all the patrons of the journal for their continued support.

The first issue of the year is a special issue on energy supply security in Europe. This issue has been edited by Prof. John Psarras, Dr Alexandros Flamos and Dr Harris Doukas. This focuses on an important issue and we thank the guest editors, authors and reviewers of the special issue for their excellent and timely contribution.

We hope our readers will enjoy the issue.
