We are very happy to present the first issue of IJESM of 2012. The United Nations has designated 2012 as the International year of Sustainable Energy for all. The challenge of ensuring access to energy for all around the world in a sustainable manner remains an important issue. The management challenge in this respect remains very poorly analysed and researched. The IJESM has therefore decided to publish a special issue, later in the 2012 volume, focusing on holistic, applied research on managing the sustainable energy supply for all and we are inviting high quality research papers, country experiences and case studies and management insights for this issue.
The IJESM has enjoyed the support of its patrons over the past years and we hope that the journal will become stronger with such continued support. The Editorial Board has been revised this year to introduce new members and to rationalise the team. We are grateful to those members who retired from the Editorial Board for their contributions, and extend a warm welcome to the new members.
This issue brings a collection of seven research papers covering a number of important areas. We hope our readers will enjoy the issue.
