Infotrieve, a market leader in article research and delivery, has recently teamed up with Adobe Systems Incorporated, a leader in the eBooks market, in an effort to provide publishers with a state-of-the-art digital rights management (DRM) solution on a worldwide basis. Infotrieve will license Adobe PDF Merchant software to provide a secure and reliable solution for distributing articles online.
The licensing agreement between Infotrieve and Adobe allows for Infotrieve to use Adobe's technology to facilitate more efficient, affordable, and innovative methods of distributing published materials to libraries and end-users, while assuring the protection of the rights of the information producer.
Adobe PDF Merchant is server-based software that can be integrated into Infotrieve's e-commerce and transaction systems to deliver encrypted Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) articles with publisher-defined rights. To deliver an article online, Infotrieve can deliver an electronic key with defined end-user capabilities. This key controls the end-user's ability to redistribute or alter the purchased article. Infotrieve customers may easily purchase and view articles using Adobe Web Buy, a feature integrated in the free Adobe AcrobatR Reader.
