Accent on space-savingAs the sole UK distributor for Kaydon, R.A. Rodriguez is experienced in supplying high quality thin section bearings for use in applications where weight and/or lack of space are important considerations. Now, the company has another addition to its armoury of space-saving components the new Spirolox range of wave springs. Shown for the first time in the UK, at the Manufacturng Week Exhibition, in Birmingham, these springs are claimed to be ideal for applications with tight axial and radial restraints. They are used for the same purpose as round wire springs but require much less axial space. The new wave springs are available in a wide range of standard and custom designs, in a variety of shaft and bore diameters, in both gap and overlap styles.

Accent on durabilityModern production processes can put considerable demands on design components. SME environments are among the harshest. High processing temperatures and vacuum conditions, coupled with corrosive chemicals can cause high rates of component failure. For Kaydon the manufacturer of the Reali-Slim thin-section bearings the answer lies in the increased use of ceramics and stainless steel. Both are important elements of the company's new LLPP series. The new LLPP series are designed to extend mean time between performance failures in harsh environments and feature stainless steel races with a choice of either stainless steel or ceramic balls. Available in both angular contact "A"and four-point contact "X" configurations, the bearings may be specified in imperial and metric sizes.

Plastic hanger bearingsReturning to the theme of space-saving, R.A. Rodriguez also showed a variety of Greenlign plastic housings. These are compact, easy to clean housings, which include stainless steel bearings and end covers as standard features. An extended range of sizes were introduced at Manufacturing Week, as were the new HPL hanger bearing range, believed to be the only plastic versions available in the UK.

As an ISO 9002 distributor, R. A. Rodriguez is able to supply the entire Greenlign range including its new addition with full certification of conformity.

Plastic and stainlessMany hundreds of variants comprise the KHK Stock Gear range, full details of which are contained in a weighty catalogue which will be available on the R.A. Rodriguez stand. Two notable additions, which are already attracting considerable attention, are the new ranges of plastic spur gears with stainless steel hubs and plastic worm gears with stainless worms. Both have been introduced to bridge the gap between an all-plastic gear and a high-specification stainless steel component for use in applications where corrosion could pose a problem.
