New assembly robot sets new standard in flexibility

Keywords Assembly, Robots

A new, highly versatile assembly robot, offering exceptional price-performance, is now available, exclusively in the UK, from Townsend Coates. Able to hang over an assembly line, the product is not limited by component weight, and is suitable for a wide range of applications, including pick and place operations (see Plate 5).

Particularly suitable for applications such as dispensing, soldering, screw tightening and pick and place, the JSR4400 SCARA robot from Janome, is based on a versatile 2-, 3- or 4-axis configuration and offers many benefits. Providing high acceleration (max. 2G with 1kg load) and high repeatability (within 0.01mm), the product is exceptionally easy to programme via a PC or a (detachable) large-display teaching pendant, while a simple, easy to use PLC language eliminates the need for specific robot languages.

With an integral controller to save space, and an internal PLC for sequence/program control, the JSR4400 offers 25 inputs and 24 outputs as standard (upgradeable to 571/560) for easy interfacing to external equipment, and can store up to 100 programs or 4000 data points. The built-in 5-phase stepping motor, with encoder feedback, ensures fast, accurate positioning.

Weighing only 41kg, the product is extremely portable, and has a power consumption of only 200VA working from a mains supply. Able to be used as a desktop robot, using an optional table, the JSR4400 features a modular design for easy maintenance and upgrading.

Established in 1961 Townsend Coates is a member of the Sedgemoor Group plc, and is a leading distributor of electromechanical and passive components.
