Written as a tribute to Edward J. Davison, Topics in Control and Its Applications contains papers presented at the "Recent Developments in Control Theory and Applications" workshop. The workshop was held at the Fields Institute, Toronto, Canada, 29-30 June 1998.
The 12 papers in this book can be categorised into four major areas. These are robust control, decentralized control, control applications and various topics in the theory of signals and systems. The papers cover "Robust control for car steering", "Radial and uniform distributions in vector and matrix spaces for probabilistic robustness", "Decentralized reliable control for large-scale systems", "A novel approach to vibration reduction in flexible belt drives", "Fault diagnosis in finite-state automata and time discrete-event systems", "On the stability of control systems to a decentralized team problem with application in flow control for networks", "Solution of a wavelet crime", "Interior and non-interior point algorithms for nonlinear programming", "Decentralized control of uncertain systems via sensitivity models", "Dynamic modeling of airborne gas turbine engines" and "Properties of linear discrete-time system in terms of its singular value decomposition".
Overall, this well-written book clearly presents new developments and findings of topics in control and its practical applications.
