Keyword: Grippers

Festo has extended its portfolio of miniaturised products with the introduction of a range of exceptionally small micro pneumatic grippers designed to save valuable installation space (see Plate 1).

The HGWM range is targeted at applications in the electronics and precision tool industries for handling and assembly of tiny components in restricted space environments. The miniaturised angle grippers offer extremely fast actuation with a closing time of just 2.5 milliseconds, making them ideal for high speed and rapid cycle time operation.

Two micro gripper models are available, with pistons of 8mm and 12mm diameter. The smaller model incredibly weighs only 13g but delivers a grip force of 12N per jaw. A broad range of adaptable options supports both models. Service life is over 20 million cycles.

The micro grippers are a further addition to the rapidly expanding Festo handling range allowing complete pick and place system solutions to be selected from standard catalogue items and assembled using only allen keys and screwdrivers.
