ABB, has announced that it has won an order with Ford's Premier Automotive Group to supply 186 industrial robots to Land Rover (Plate 2).

Nigel Platt, ABB Account Manager, Premier Automotive Group, comments: "ABB was selected by Land Rover because we could offer world-class, leading reliability and maintainability with familiarity and connectivity all at a competitive price. It is a clear indication of the strength of the ABB brand in the automotive industry and we are looking forward to further developing our working relationship with Land Rover on this project."

The ABB industrial robots will be used for welding and associated applications on Land Rover's next generation 4×4 models. Delivery of the robots to Land Rover begins in June 2003.
