PIAP is the only producer of high quality mobile robots for counter-terrorism use in Poland. Since 2000, PIAP has been a permanent supplier of mobile robots and robotic devices for special forces.

PIAP’s informative web site contains information and history on PIAP’s security engineering and features its six EOD/IEDD advanced robots: inspector, expert, explorer, small roboticized unit for reconnaissance, Ibis, and TRM – Tactical Throwable Robot, technical PDFs, pictures, videos, published articles, and awards are also available.

Redzone Robotics, headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, is a leading designer and manufacturer of robotic wastewater inspection technologies.

Redzone’s dynamic homepage offers an excellent overview of the company, products, and services. The rest of this comprehensive site is divided into four main areas entitled, “Why Redzone?”, “Info and Resources”, “News and Events”, and “Products”.

The Products link includes pages on Redzone’s two main pipe inspection robot systems: RESPONDER, a multi-sensor inspection for large diameter pipes; and Solo, an unmanned inspection robot for small diameter pipes. Also under Products are Redzone’s wastewater asset management software solutions.

There is also a wealth of information found in educational articles.

DOK-ING

DOK-ING, a Croatian company with the tagline, “Don’t send a man to do a machine’s job”, is the largest commercial humanitarian demining company in South Eastern Europe.

DOK-ING’s state-of-the-art and easy-to-navigate web site provides information on its three lines of Products – demining, fire fighting, and underground mining. Each product tab features general information, technical data, advantages, and a showroom of photos and videos.

The new projects link highlights the FP7-Firerob fire fighting system, which recently was awarded a grant by the European Commission Research Fund. There is also substantial information under “About Doking” and “News”.

Digger DTR Demining Technologies

Digger Demining Technologies Research (DTR) is a Swiss humanitarian and non-profit organization whose goal is to promote technological assistance in humanitarian demining. Digger DTR has operational experience in Africa, and Eastern and Western Europe.

The multimedia homepage displays the new Digger D-3, the latest version of its advanced versatile demining machine, which is characterized by its resistance to extreme working conditions and its performance and reliablity with antipersonnel and antitank mines.

Other links from the homepage take the visitor to Product News and a map of its references. It would be helpful if the site also provided the user with an “About” or “History” tab on this impressive foundation.

MineWolf Systems

MineWolf Systems is a global company based in Switzerland that provides state-of-the-art technologies and services for the safe, fast, and cost-efficient clearance of landmines and other explosive devices.

MineWolf’s thorough and well-presented web site focuses on its portfolio of purpose-built mechanical solutions: the MineWolf MW370, its flagship product which is best suited for large mine clearance projects; the Medium MineWolf MW330, which is specifically designed to meet military requirements with regards to survivability and mobility in demining operations; and the Mini MineWorld MW 240, which is a smaller and more easily transportable machine. Other links under Products include customised solutions and multi-purpose attachments, one of which is a robotic arm.

Robotics Research Lab at the University of Kaiserslautern

Founded in 2003, the Robotics Research Lab at the University of Kaiserslautern is dedicated to the realisation of complex autonomous, mobile robotic systems including wheel-driven indoor and outdoor vehicles, climbing and walking robots, as well as the study of human-machine interaction.

The Lab’s interesting web site expounds its research with: topics, current and finished projects, and a portal to the Robotics Research Library, a compendium of the Lab’s hardware and software robotic competencies.

The Robot Gallery provides visuals and further information on eight robot projects. There are also pages on press, publications, and current exhibitions and symposiums.
