York festival of food and drink

York festival of food and drink

This will take place from 22 September to 1 October in special venues, open spaces and historic buildings throughout the city. The main themes of the festival are culinary innovation, healthy eating and the greater use of local produce and will include a large scale street cafe, celebrity cookery shows, speciality markets, sampling opportunities, gourmet dinners and tutored wine and real ale tastings. The event is expected to attract 150,000 visitors from a dozen countries and will feature over 150 different events. The intention is that each day will have a particular focus such as the future of cooking, international menus, organic foods, a campaign for lunches and an emphasis on careers in the hospitality industry. Festival details may be obtained from Jane Sowden, telephone 01904 554425 or Susan Logan telephone 01904 554426.
