What's in a name?
Did you know that many surnames have connections with cheese? For example, the old word "wick" means a group of buildings where dairy farming was carried out. So Fenwick means from the dairy farm in the fen, Sedgewick from the dairy farm in the reed beds, Denwick from the dairy farm in the valley and Howick from the dairy farm on the "hough" which comes from a Lancashire word.
