National honey week
This week took place from 4-10 February. The UK honey market has shown a steady growth over the last 12 months with consumption hitting the 22,000 tonnes mark which in grocery sales is valued at around £37 million. Almost 80 per cent of consumers spread honey on bread, usually at breakfast time, but there is a growing tendency to use honey as a beverage and a yogurt sweetener. The Honey Association's Web site is at www.honeyassociation.com and it recorded 19,000 hits during the last honey week. .
