What do consumers really think about GM foods?

What do consumers really think about GM foods?

A new report from Campden and Chorleywood Food Research Association (CCFRA) provides details of consumer attitudes to GM technology in food production. It was based on a questionairre designed to assess consumer knowledge, awareness and attitudes towards social, ethical, moral, safety and environmental aspects of genetic modification. The survey was conducted in both city and rural locations. The types, use and effect of different information sources were also explored to find if there was any difference between readers of campaigning versus non-campaigning newspapers. The report is entitled "Consumer awareness of and attitudes towards genetic modification" and will be of particular interest to marketing and technical personnel in food and biotechnology companies.
