Healthy vending machines for schools

Healthy vending machines for schools

Four schools in Dagenham, Havering, Sunbury and Southwark have been chosen as the first to receive The Green Machine. Some 20 more machines are expected to be installed at the beginning of the year. This healthy food and drink vending machine for schools is the creation of the Organic and Natural Food Company. It offers a wide range of healthier snacks and drinks and marks a departure from the usual array of vending options for schools, many of which have been cricitised on nutritional grounds. The Green Machine operates on foods which contain no artifical colourings, additives or flavours. It has been welcomed by the Hyperactive Children's Support Group. Each year, 10 per cent of its profits will be donated to charitable and healthy eating initiatives. It aims to support healthy and nutritionally sound food education programmes in schools.
