Meat Video Magazine – edition 6 – Multi-cultural Food

The Meat Video Magazine (MVM) edition 6 is a free educational resource from the British Meat Education Service, for secondary Food Technology/Home Economics teachers and students. The videotape contains three separate programmes. The first, MVM for teachers, is a round-up of BMES news, highlighting new interactive students' material now available on the Web site: www.bmesonline.org.uk

This edition of MVM for students is a two part special focusing on multi-cultural food. In part one, two professional chefs provide a basic introduction to Indian and Chinese cuisine and tempt our taste buds with three classic dishes. Part two focuses on the industrial context, with an item on ASDA's "meal deal bags" and an in-depth look at the manufacturing process of a Chinese ethnic convenience meal for M&S by Pennine Foods – Chilli Beef in Black Bean Sauce.

The teachers' guide contains curriculum links, further information on Indian and Chinese food suggestions for student activities.
