Innovation for food companies

Article Type: Food facts From: Nutrition & Food Science, Volume 39, Issue 5.

If food and drinks companies are to take advantage of new opportunities and keep on top of the latest technology and product development, they need a clear vision that embraces innovative solutions. The Clear View Programme from Appetizing Innovation, a consortium of leading product and packaging experts, helps companies take an informed strategic view to develop profitable and successful mainstream products. Clear View is being delivered by the Regional Food Group, supported by Yorkshire Forward, to provide a structured programme that supports food and drink businesses in all aspects of growth and development – from product design to testing to consumer awareness, trade development and marketing.

With access to world class business and academic expertise and the latest technologies, Clear View provides practical solutions to boost innovation and improve commercial viability. This significant programme is available to all companies in the Yorkshire and Humber food and drink industry, from small start-ups with exciting plans for new products, to established major players looking to optimise the profitability of their range. Following an initial assessment to identify and define specific needs, companies engage with targeted modules that provide market analysis, benchmarking and competitor comparison, creative workshops, recipe and process review and commercial mapping. Whether accessed individually or as a complete package, each module provides hands on experience to resolve problems and generate the confidence, inspiration and ideas for products to fulfil their potential.

Research and Development Director of the Regional Food Group, Sarah Knapper, believes the Clear View programme can help companies build a firm foundation for success.

The Appetizing Innovation project, led by Food Processing Faraday Partnership (FPFP), brings together a consortium of leading product and packaging experts to support companies in their efforts to remain competitive and succeed in today's challenging economic climate.
