Top consumer survey
Article Type: Food facts From: Nutrition & Food Science, Volume 40, Issue 3.
Over 10,000 consumers have once again voted in the annual Product of the Year survey, guiding fellow shoppers towards the best products in supermarket aisles and on websites.
For 2010, winning lines were awarded from a range of categories including confectionery, toiletries, healthcare, pain relief and tanning. Notable this year were innovations such as John West's “No Drain” tuna can and the MaltEaster Bunny, a seasonal variation on the Malteaser.
Within just five years, Product of the Year has become the largest and most representative consumer vote on product innovation in the UK, with products voted by the people and for people. More than half the UK population (52 per cent) say they recognise the distinctive red logo with the majority saying it is most obvious on packaging (44 per cent).
