Menopause Exchange

Article Type: Food facts From: Nutrition & Food Science, Volume 42, Issue 6

The Menopause Exchange newsletter, is produced for healthcare professionals with an interest in the menopause and midlife issues. The Menopause Exchange was established in 1999 and is completely independent. We are not sponsored by any companies or organisations, so reading this newsletter will guarantee that you are getting unbiased and practical information about the menopause, hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and other management approaches. Topics include menopausal symptoms, osteoporosis, HRT, complementary therapies, nutrition, exercise, self-help measures and health problems (e.g. heart disease, thyroid problems, etc.).

The Menopause Exchange newsletter contains articles written by healthcare professionals (such as GPs, consultant gynaecologists, dietitians, pharmacists and menopause nurses), complementary therapists and major medical charities. The Menopause Exchange tackles the menopause from various angles. We do not just concentrate on the symptoms and treatments, but look at other issues, like the risks of breast cancer, heart disease and osteoporosis, lifestyle and emotions.

The Summer 2012 issue will include articles on “Prescription drug alternatives to HRT for hot flushes and night sweats” by Miss Sovra Whitcroft, “Eating for the menopause” by Fiona Hunter, “Osteoporosis” by Dr Nuttan Tanna and “Diabetes” by Diabetes UK. We like to hear from GP practices, menopause clinics, hospitals and healthcare professionals, so if you have anything you would like us to cover in the newsletter or any suggestions or ideas, please let us know. If you are a healthcare professional and would like us to include your latest research, conference or workshop on the menopause or related issues, please e-mail us with the details.
