Article Type: Editorial From: Policing: An International Journal of Police Strategies & Management, Volume 31, Issue 4

This issue contains nine articles which explore significant topics related to police management and operations. Our authors examine several perceptions of policing, including job satisfaction among officers and public attitudes towards the police. In addition to these papers, the issue includes examinations of alcohol use among police, and special enforcement problems including family group conferences, organised crime, and the prevalence of handgun permits. The papers discuss policing in North America, Europe, and Asia. One paper describes policing on native American lands in the USA. We are quite pleased with the mix of topics and settings covered in this issue of the journal.

In addition to these papers, this issue contains our feature sections of “Perspectives” “Policing on the Web”, and a book review. We are grateful for the contributions of our authors and encourage our readers to submit articles for consideration.

As always, we continue to strive to present the most recent thinking and research on policing topics, and to reflect the global perspective that has characterised the journal for so many years. We encourage our readers to participate in the journal through the submission of articles and book reviews and through service as manuscript reviewers. We ask anyone with comments or suggestions to feel free to contact us and look forward to hearing from you all.
