Purpose – Reviews the role that human resource managers play in developing the reputation of their organization for corporate social responsibility. Design/methodology/approach – Quotes the examples of UK organizations, including Cadbury-Schweppes, Accenture and West Sussex County Council, and the advice of social change consultancies to illustrate the role that human resource managers can play in supporting their organization’s corporate social responsibility strategy. An inset profiles BT’s approach to corporate social responsibility. Findings – Stresses that human resource managers can play an important role in rolling out their organizations’ corporate social responsibility strategy. Originality/value – Gives examples of what companies do in practice to develop their corporate social responsibility.
