Purpose – to discuss expansion into the UK market as a potential business development strategy for New Zealand companies. Design/methodology/approach – points out that the UK provides a gateway to a European market with a population of 550 million and a single currency. Discusses the services available from the Auckland-based UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) organization. States that UKTI offers tailored advice, support and high-level introductions to key networks and companies both in New Zealand and in the UK. Adds that for many years, it has supported businesses seeking to set up in the UK in conjunction with NZ Trade and Enterprise. Draws attention to the advantages of working with one of the regional development agencies in the UK and offers advice from entrepreneurs and advisers with experience in this area.
