SMT 2006 “best ever” exhibition for Hybrid Laser Tech

Hybrid Laser Tech Ltd, the Cambridgeshire-based precision laser cutting company, wholly owned by Shearline Precision Engineering, has just returned from its best ever surface mounted technology (SMT)/Hybrid/ Packaging exhibition in Nuremberg, Germany.

The exhibition, which ran for three days, attracted 579 exhibitors from over 25 countries around the world and was attended by almost 25,000 trade visitors.

The event in Nuremberg is one of the world's biggest SMT exhibitions and Hybrid Laser Tech's attendance benefited both from the large number of attendees and the company's range of services, as Sales and Technical Manager Kevin Thompson explains, “Both customer enquiries and orders were up on 2005,” he enthused: “We had an extremely busy three days with a number of Italian and Swiss Hybrid Micro-Electronics companies placing orders for the precision laser cutting of ceramic components.

“We're renowned for our ability to laser cut complex designs on a wide range of materials and we work in a variety of sectors including aerospace, electronics and telecommunications. All of those sectors were out in force at the exhibition and all were extremely interested in what we had to offer.”

“As we continue to raise our profile across the globe, exhibitions like SMT are a critical part of our strategy. It gives us the opportunity to see and be seen by thousands of existing and potential customers – something that would take months if undertaken from the office. The benefits of the 2005 event are still continuing over a year after it happened and I've no doubt that our presence at SMT 2006 will be equally beneficial to us in both the short and long term.

“The fact that one third of the exhibitors in Germany were foreign emphasises how important these three days are to Hybrid Laser Tech's future as a global player.”

Hybrid Laser Tech Ltd was acquired by Shearline Precision Engineering Ltd in August 2005. Trading for over 30 years Shearline Precision Engineering is considered as one of the UK's most successful engineering companies.

It has established an enviable reputation throughout the manufacturing and engineering industry and is regarded as one of the few UK engineering companies that offer a total manufacturing solution to customers throughout the world. The acquisition is a positive step forward and will enable both companies to further strengthen relationships with clients on a national and international level by offering value added services and continuing to meet customer demand.
