Low calcium intakes among teenagers

Low calcium intakes among teenagers

Preliminary data published in the 1998 National Food Survey show that intakes of calcium among 11-14 year-olds are 20 per cent lower than recommended and this could put them at risk of developing osteoporosis in later life. The National Dairy Council's 24-page topical update on Diet and Bone Health reviews the dietary and lifestyle factors that are important to bone health with particular emphasis on calcium and vitamin D.
